Naomi House

Life Training for Mothers

About us

Naomi House was started to share the hope that God gives people that their lives really can change, He really does have a plan, and no situation is too hopeless.

This stems from my person life experience- having God give me the love I was looking for in bad relationships, drugs, alcohol, and trying really hard to fit in. I thought that if there was a God, I hadn’t been a “good” person and wouldn’t get to heaven, and if there was a hell, then God was a jerk.

But I learned that God sent his only son to take all my sins and my junk- my hopelessness and worthlessness- and give me new life now and thenĀ  live forever in heaven. I experienced the love and peace I had been desperately searching for, and God has totally blessed my life.

I’m saying all this because at Naomi House, we believe that if a person does not have that knowledge of God’s love and plan for their life, and forgiveness, then change is very difficult, if not impossible. And our ministry is about lasting change. Money, or good advice cannot take a mom from hopelessness to peace. Only God can do that.

So that is our mission. To join the spiritual aspect of change and healing with practical help in the area of physical needs and education.

We have 6 months of life skills training (2 hrs of classes daily) in Parenting, Money Management, Work Ethic, Home Ec, Healthy Living, Relationship Success, Successful Living, Christian Discipleship, Emotional Health, and General Education Help
This is Phase 1.

Phase 2-3 include taking whatever steps are necessary- varying with each person- to become debt free, employable, healthy, and capable as a parent.

Phase 4 consists of transitioning into the “real world” with Naomi House helping out in furnishing an apartment and providing a mentor for after care once the resident moves on.

The total time spent at Naomi House will be from 18 months to 2 years. This is long, we understand, but we have come to the realization that poverty is not quickly “fixed”. It is learned over a lifetime- sometimes 2 and 3 generations- and takes time to unlearn. Some women of course will only be experiencing temporary poverty, but the time is still needed to provide a stable foundation.

My husband Travis and I started Naomi House as a leap of faith and God has provided continually. We were very naive about many things, but we are learning and continue to make our program and ministry asĀ  effective as possible. We have listened to women and walked through the process with them of facing huge obstacles to success. We learned that our program has to offer solid solutions that stand up to reality.
