Naomi House

Life Training for Mothers

FAQ’s

Q. Is Naomi House a safe place for women to come who are fleeing domestic violence?
A. No, we are not.

Q. What is the minimum age of women who can stay at Naomi House?
A. 18

Q. How old can children of mothers who stay in the home be?
A. Children must be under twelve unless we make an exception.

Q. How many mothers and children can Naomi House accommodate?
A. The number of women and children we can accommodate will vary. We have three bedrooms available, so at most we could have a mother with two or three small children stay in each room or two pregnant mothers in each room.

Q. How do you find out about moms who need the home?
A. We get referrals from agencies, individuals, and mothers themselves who hear about us. We want to keep track of the number of people in the area who need assistance, so we use our referral sheet that a person can fill out.

Q. You are a religious organization; do you only take religious women into your home?
A. No. We accept anyone who is in need and who is able to stay, regardless of her beliefs.

Q. Do women who stay at Naomi House have to come from Waushara County only?
A. We can take women from any area, with Waushara County and surrounding areas receiving priority.

Q. How are you funded?
A. By donations, we are a 501(C)3 organization. Donations are tax deductible. We are also funded by proceeds from Naomi’s Blesssings Thrift Store locatedĀ  in Wautoma WI.

Q. Are you associated with a specific church?
A. No

Q. Can a resident work for the first 6 months?
A. No. We have found that the six months of training is truly necessary for real, lasting growth. It takes time to get into poverty, with some women being the second and even third generation to grow up in it.

The way we think about money, life, responsibility, who to trust, are all factors in getting free from poverty. If we simply allow a woman and her children to stay rent free and save up money, they’ll leave without tools needed to stay out of poverty forever. So the first six months of the Naomi House program are intensive classes 3 hours a day. More info on “What we do” page. The entire stay will be from 18-24 months until graduation- from Naomi House and poverty!
